"The only thing worse than an addiction was an addiction to something you couldn't have."

As a new reader to Dr. Rebecca Sharp, I question why I ever waited so long to read this author!?! I'm truly sad to say this is only the second book I have had the opportunity to include in my blog schedule and I'm kicking myself. It was utterly awful to find that when The Judgement of Paris was releasing, I would have to pass the chance to review the conclusion to a story that I was highly invested in. There was no way I was going to pass up reading another book by Dr. Sharp. I am soooo glad I was able to read this one.

Dr. Sharp's writing is superb and entertaining. I will admit that the story took me a little bit to get invested in, but I stuck through the hero's idiocy and found a story that absolutely moved me.

I am sitting here shocked by what I have finished reading.

Redemption was the thing that Ash was looking for when he left his life behind. Taylor was looking for her own form of redemption as well. One night that happened months ago changed both their lives is so many ways.

Ash and Taylor were two people that neither one saw changing their lives. But, all it took was Taylor coming to Ash asking for help, and things started to change. Both had their secrets that they were worried about coming to light. Then slowly as feelings began to be shared a real connection is revealed.

This was definitely an emotional story. One that showed that these two characters were ones that built a relationship that really had strength. The spiritual/ religious aspects were part of the characters, but it wasn't the main focus on the story. You were there emotionally with everything the characters went through. Even when a big loss hits, you are able to feel the pain that both Ash and Taylor felt.

Redemption is definitely a book that a reader of contemporary romance should give a chance.

5 stars for Redemption by Dr. Rebecca Sharp. This book was heartbreaking and sad. Taylor and Ash have never had an easy relationship. Taylor was friends with Ash’s sister. Taylor moved away awhile back, but now Taylor is at his door with needing help. Only she has no idea about the secrets Ash is hiding. “The only thing worse than an addiction was an addiction to something you couldn’t have.” I will say if you do not want to cry then this book may not be for you. Ash and Taylor’s relationship had me shedding some tears. I could not out this book down. I read it in a couple hours. I would consider this a best friends brother/ secret baby romance. It was a fast read filled with heartbreak, love, and so much more.

Addiction....

Ash and Taylor were a friends to lovers, best friend's brother, surprise baby romance that was heartwarming and beautiful. There were a lot of emotions and real life situations that made you connect with each character. I cannot wait to see where this series will lead!

Redemption is a companion novel to Reputation, both books having been penned by Dr. Rebecca Sharp. This also marks my fourth read from the author. I read Reputation right before starting this new release because the main character in Redemption is a peripheral character in that previous book. Here's the thing, though: I wasn't a fan of book one, and I struggled getting through it, so I may have been a wee bit nervous about this companion read. Fortunately, this was a far smoother reading experience, and I appreciated seeing how much the main character evolved from who he was in the book featuring his sister and his best friend to who he is as he seeks redemption.

This was a really angsty read, and since I'm a bit of an angst addict, I was all for it. I think that having seen how Ash was before and seeing how he is now gave me a better appreciation for his transformation. There was a whole lot about him in Reputation that made him seriously unlikable, but talk about a metamorphosis of sorts. As much as I didn't like Ash in the previous book, he lived up to the title of this book, ultimately redeeming himself. As far as Taylor is concerned, I confess that there was a disconnect for majority of the book because I found her overly frustrating, but she did manage to win me over. The author did a really admirable job with Redemption. Four stars. ♥

Absolutely beautiful. This story is just as the title suggests, a story of redemption. I was not a fan of this character in Reputation, but I completely fell for them in this story. This story is heartbreaking and angst filled and also breathtaking and full of heart. I could not put it down. Rebecca Sharp has definitely become a one-click author of mine and I can't wait to read more.

4.7 stars

This author was one of my favorite discoveries this year. There is just something about the way she pens a story. The stylistic choices she uses when creating a scene or setting up a sentence is truly sublime. My literature loving heart gets happy reading words strewn together that can make me feel, touch, hear and taste as if the words were real.

This story dealt with some heavy topics but they were handled with care and love. These characters, their love, and even their baggage was beautiful, poignant, and raw. My only complaint was wondering more about the backstory with Ash and his sister/friend. I'm still working my way through other books by this author so I'm not sure if there is another story that I missed.

Highly recommend anything this author writes.
