Anything Jessica Joyce writes is perfection. This is not exception. A short, sweet & spicy novelette as she calls it that chronicles a lust filled night unfolds into more for Claire and Connor, two people who see each other across a room, instant attraction tying them together. While rare, the connection they felt as they let out their history to each other in their few days together felt so real, the pang of a race against the clock as the instant chemistry flares between them. I also loved how Claire’s story is woven together by the risks she’s willing to take after always being careful, a trait many of us can relate to, and how she’s rewarded for trying something, exploring and diving right in. Jessica, even in such a short story, knows how to pierce the soul, craft vulnerable characters, and make you fall in love with the tales she tells. This is a perfect holiday novelette.

Okay what the heck? How could something so short be so cute and heartwarming?
Seriously within 78 pages there was the most amazing little story. There was independence, excitement, spice, character development and more. I seriously loved this short and sweet novella!
Read this between Christmas and New Year’s. Thank me later

"It's not as natural for us to think about the risks associated with not changing."
This was actually so cute! Exceeded my expectations and had what I look for in a Novella - short, sweet and uncomplicated.
The plot:
This novella follows Claire Ashford who was living a careful and unfulfilling life and wanted to take an adventure. She's about to move to a different State with a new job opportunity when Connor arrives in her bar on her last shift before moving. This book is all about what you might miss out on if you don't take a chance.
╰⪼ Thoughts:
I can't say too much about this without spoiling because it's so short (78 pages) but I loved the ending and her commitment to her own future. This had the potential to be so toxic and it wasn't at all - Connor is great.
Decent smut and minimal cringe. It takes place shortly before the Christmas/new year period so only very briefly festive but I still liked it.
