This was the most frustrating book I’ve read in a long time. I only finished because I spent the money on it. I listened on Audible and it took approx 10 hours for the Mc’s to stop fighting and agree to be together. It was a bunch of meeting up for sex, one of them getting pissed at the other, and Jason leaving to go back to the streets. That went on for over 30 chapters! They spent more time in their own head than being present for actual conversation. The ending was so rushed and wrapped up in like 30 minutes. There are also some plot lines that didn’t get resolved. If all the back and forth was removed, this story could have been told in u see 4 hours tops. This is the second book from this author that I’ve disliked. I won’t be giving them a third chance.

I like it when a protagonist struggles with his attraction. We get plenty of that.
Narration is good, too.

But someone living on the street selling himself in order to give his money away to get his colleagues off the street does not make sense to me.
I have to take a break and see if I can ignore this premise tomorrow.

Wow this book was hard to put down. I’ve fallen in love with the Raine and Jason as they both have a dark past and both have nightmares. Raine is a young man still looking for what he is wanting out of life. Rain works 2 jobs and is a handsome man that likes Jason but after they fight a couple of yrs ago Jason doesn’t think Raine likes him and Raine fells the same. Jason is in trouble and in a dark place, trying to get his friends on the streets safe buy selling his body and paying of the pimp and get his friends off the streets to. This book has a lot of dark twists and turns though out the book. This book will keep you on edge and wanting to save Raine and Jason from everything going on. JO Raven has written this book so can feel the emotions coming from Raine and Jason and close family. You feel like you are right there. I feel that 5 Stars just isn’t enough..

Awesome read

This is my first book by Jo Raven and it will not be my last. This book had it all...great, strong characters, high emotions, fabulous sex scenes and enough twists and turns to keep the reader quickly turning pages. I simply loved both Raine and Jason. Their tortured souls deserved their HEA.

If you've read the Inked Brotherhood or Damage Control series by this author, you may be familiar with the characters. This can be read as a stand alone without any difficulties (I have not read any of the other books myself,) but it does take place in that world and the two lead characters were minor players in a few of the other books, and some of those characters cross paths in this one, but their part in this book is explained. It will make you curious about the other characters and you'll probably will want to go back and read the other series. :D

This is a dark m/m romance. It's got some strong sexual situations (some of a violent nature, though those scenes aren't played out, they are more or less assumed.) Raine and Jason (both gay men) met and did not hit it off when they first met a few years prior, but unfortunate events bring them together in a way neither would have expected. There are some intense scenes. This is definitely not a comedy. There is some beauty in the love these two share (whether they want to admit it or not.) There is also some heartache as they work through their feelings. There is some sweetness in it as well.

This is well written and has a lot of heart mixed in with the turmoil and trouble. It reads smoothly and switches between two POVs. It reads quickly as well. Not only is the story intense, but the characters are as well. With lots of complex layers to work through.

The story was needlessly convoluted with the mob/father/extra characters, as if a person with a rough upbringing getting off the streets is not enough of a premise for a good story. These added obstacles were also a bit comical in the way that badly developed villains can be.
Something that surprised me is seeing other reviewers be putt off by some of the grittier/darker aspects of prostitution/sleeping rough described in the book, which I don't think is fair criticism, it's not aiming to be MM Pretty woman after all, and I thought that aspect was handled well.
I have to say the audio book is narrated in part by my personal favourite Teddy Hamilton, which probably gave it one of the three stars I'm leaving here.

I was kindly provided with an ARC for an honest review!
Holy moly, I loved this book. Even tho it took me some days to finish it, just because I was quite busy and couldn't read as much as I wanted. But when I had time, I devoured it.
I love Jason and Raine. They both have their own baggage, but these 'damaged' and 'inked' boys show, what it means to have a family, to have each other's back.
Very deep and heavy feelings, struggles, but oh so worth it!!!

I believe this is a first for me by this author. I don’t really know what I was expecting, this cover is what jumped out at me and I had to listen.

I liked the characters and their connection, but it kind of felt one-sided for the most part. Jason really goes through the wringer in this story and I sometimes didn’t think Raine understood the situation Jason was in. I wanted him to care more for this man he was lusting after.

I think this book could have been freaking great but it was just too slow, and I wanted more magnetize between these characters I wanted to feel their lust and romantic need for each other. I just didn’t feel it.

It wasn’t terrible or anything I guess I just wanted more.

I loved the narration Teddy’s voice is YUM. Is that a descriptive word, haha NO but I don’t care it is what it is.
