A beautifully bound and illustrated book that tells the history of George R.R. Martin`s Song of Fire and Ice. A great book if one is looking to learn more about Martin's world. This tome will supplement someone well versed with the book series and would serve as an in depth introduction to fans of the TV show. The illustrations are masterfully drawn and help bring to life the characters and buildings.

En este libro, que es como una guía "rápida" a la historia del mundo de A Song of Ice and Fire nos provée de una línea clara de las familias, sus dominios, sus alianzas, su pasado.

Really in-depth history. Given his current pace, I don't think it's possible, but he has the bases covered for several other series in this world.

Far less prosaic than I was expecting, this is a fun read for fans of the series (though casual readers will likely find it tedious - even my attention began to wane in the last few hours). I’m glad they brought in Roy Dotrice for the narration - he does a fantastic job with even the drier portions.

2019 review:

Honestly, this would be worth the price for the artwork alone. Absolutely gorgeous.

(But reading this only made me want Winds of Winter even more. George R R Martin clearly still has a lot of passion for this world! And there is definitely nothing wrong with his creativity! I know he can do it, I believe in him.)

Excellent history book of the world of game of thrones. Thorough histories of westeros, it's people and ruling families in the first half and Essos and the lands beyond in the second half. I plan to reference this book again and again in the future!

This read has been very interesting. I'm like a walking game of thrones background knowledge lexicon right know. I especially enjoyed the chapter about the reign of the Targaryens and About Essos. The rest of the seven kingdoms history was rather boring because the authors tried to put as much information in as little pages as possible and it ended in a confusing mix of different names and houses that no normal person could possibly remember. That's quite sad. What I liked most, were the illustrations. They were rather huge and very beautiful
