Great book, dude tells it like it is and there is a lot of God in his life, highly recommended.
Danny may be one of the most interesting people in to enter Hollywood. After seeing him on Wild doing an excursion I knew I had to read his memoir and learn more about his life. This book will leave you both shocked and amazed at what this man has experienced and make you want to sit down for a long chat!
I listened to the audiobook read by Danny Trejo. I did speed it up as his tempo when reading was slow but I got used to it.
I didn't realize how horrible of a life he had as a kid and then his own kids when it came to drug addiction. I also didn't realize he was in and out of jai so much. He told some interesting stories.

Definitely one of the best celebrity memoirs that I’ve read. I can see why I see this on so many recommendation list. His story is so interesting yet so representative of a shared experience of those in poverty, in gang culture, etc. As a daughter of an addict I really appreciated his real yet empathetic takes on addiction as he has the perspective of both addict and family member of an addict. He also has a lot of humor in retelling even the darkest parts of his story. I think most people could sit down and find this book to be entertaining to listen to.
I need to go back and highlight a lot of things he said in this book so I can reference them easily, he's so unintentionally extremely wise. I read this book because I was thinking " hehehe it's the big Mexican from Desperado! He will probably have some fun Hollywood stories hehehe" and he did, but homes, this man's story, wow, I mean, damn, seriously, wow.

Do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook. The book itself is a 4-star endeavor but it is read by Danny Trejo himself and it’s marvelously Machete-esque.
Amazing what he went through and still was able to get himself straightened out. Now he helps other people get their lives together.
