Postal is about a postman who has Asperger's. He lives in Eden, a town full of criminals who are part of a community which essentially treads on a knife's edge. His condition leads him to be curious and observant and soon enough, he is solving crimes. I am trying hard to remember an investigator of any sort being a normal person in popular culture. They all have a condition. Some are sociopaths, some have a drug problem, others have a past they want to run away from or it's Asperger's as in the case of Mark here. Maybe Perry Mason was the last perfectly fit detective, unless Erle Stanley Gardner hid a line about something contrary to it in one his million books.
Anyway, it was difficult to feel for any of the characters. Even though it is set in a town made of people with a criminal past, some of the revelations about their pasts is quite tough to believe. The story does have an eerie mood around it and I am guessing the subsequent books will have something stronger to hold on to. However, I am undecided as to whether I even want to read the next volume.
I quite liked the artwork by Isaac Goodhart, even though it doesn't take much by way of comic book art to please me. All in all, not too disappointed, but not thrilled to bits either.

I really really enjoyed this. Reading about a character with aspergers was fascinating, and very unique. The plot was also great and kept me hooked.

3.5 stars rounded up.

I liked this overall and will be reading the next volume in short order. I wish that the main character was not so defined by his Asperger's as he is not shown to be anything else. Absolutely everything is tied to his diagnosis, and I am not a fan of this. It is nice to have a main character who has Asperger's but nobody wants to their entire being to be tied back to one thing. A lot of things make a person who they are, and it would be nice to show that too.

I wish the plot was a bit more flushed out. I thought the whodunit was going to take a lot longer than it did.

I really like the break downs of several characters at the end of the volume explaining what they had done or were wanted for. It gave a nice insight to each person, even if you only saw them a few times on the page. Made every character a little more interesting.

A town made of criminals seems to be living just fine with their second chance to life - until a body is found.

A very strong #1 issue, art is okay (sometimes too digitized), the plot is one of those "we slowly learn more of the town's secrets" but so far, it's not really making a lot of sense. The main character is likeable and easily the one reason I would keep following this series. (A postal worker with Asperger's and a strong sense of duty). Plus a friend of mine absolutely loved this series, so I'll be following this one further.
