This book is a great continuation of the Bridgerton series. We finally shift focus to Penelope and Colin, and even though I paused the book for a bit, once Colin began realizing he had feelings for Penelope, feelings he’d been denying for years, I couldn’t put it down.

Even though I already knew Penelope was Lady Whistledown from the show, the reveal was still satisfying. The emotional fallout between Colin, Penelope, and the rest of the Bridgerton family was one of the strongest parts of the story and brought so much depth to their dynamic.

Like other Bridgerton novels, this book takes time to explore the male lead’s inner world.
Colin’s insecurities around his lack of accomplishments, his desire to travel, and not feeling like he’s made a name for himself were compelling. Watching him eventually find confidence in publishing his writing, with Penelope by his side, was such a satisfying conclusion.

This might not be the best Bridgerton novel in the series, but it’s still one I really loved.

MID tbh.

Colin is really boring and this checks in the show and book. He's just a whiny little baby for the entire book. (Omg I love her? Omg I'm jealous of her?) And Penelope is great, but I feel like the writing style doesn't really do the complexity of her character any justice. I do think historical romances generally are not for me because the men are usually a miss and the culture/societal expectations make me wanna vomit, generally.

Also it feels like he forces himself to settle into loving her. Fuck that. Penelope deserves better

what can I say, I'm Eloise (from the show.)
