I can definitely see why this manga has its legendary reputation. You feel for every character in this - from the main to minor characters. You hate the villains hard and love the heroes harder. I'm surprised they revealed as much as they did about the identity of the killer. Interesting to see how the little girl and gun instructor are going to feature in the story from this point further. Loved it. Deserves the hype.

Really fast paced and easy to read manga. Dark and twisty, this one has it all: murder, hospitals, candy, handsome strangers, detectives, girls who faint, birthday cake, guns, near death experiences, actual death experiences, mystery, sheds in woods, a blind man, and more.

It was my first time reading Manga. So, I am not familiar with how these books really work. That being said, I wanted to learn, which is why I picked up this manga. After getting used to reading backwards -- right to left, top to bottom -- I found myself easing into the story itself. It was well-paced, intriguing, and suspenseful enough that I intend to continue my experience into Volume 2. I am also impressed with how much story detail can be gleaned from graphics and simple dialogue. Ultimately, I prefer traditional books, but I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with Monster.
