Although I may not understand or resonate with some of the content, and occasionally find a few analogies difficult to follow, I can confidently say this book was a positive read and non-Christians will definitely be able to take something away from this book.

I do not identify as a Christian but am a spiritual person who is open to faiths, respects all religions and also wants to learn other peoples perspectives. A friend recommended me this book as someone who is is on their own journey with faith and religion and felt as though I would be able to take something away from this book.

Having completed the book I definitely found some of the content largely religion focused, with many bible quotes and references on some pages that I occasionally found it hard as someone with less knowledge surrounding the bible. It was also quite analogy heavy, sometimes I was feeling lost between whether we were talking about gardens or our brains. However, I was able to understand why those references were chosen as the author strongly links her faith and passion with her religion to her mental health perspectives.

Additionally, through this book I can feel and understand the authors desire to spread her word and findings to as many people as she can, It is evident she wants to be as compassionate as possible which I found incredibly moving. There are several exercises in this book that I can take away now to better my own mental health and I also feel as though I understand how faith and therapy can be intertwined with each other other in a healthy way.

I like the analogy of the garden in how to care for our physical, emotional and mental well being.

Great imagery and a beautifully written way to intertwine science, God, and behavior.
