Little bit of adventure with, brutal Vikings and Smut.
Karina Halle has a way of writing that really immerses you into her books. It’s not my favorite from her but a good short story.

I absolutely loved Karina's Grave Matter a few months ago and enjoyed A Ship of Bones & Teeth recently so I thought I'd try this Viking novella. Unfortunately it was a miss for me - romance following an abduction is going to difficult to do "right" at any time, but the novella length plus two "love interests" didn't do this any favours. Because of the length, things progressed too quickly, or just jumped from one state to the next with no real development or arc and there just wasn't time for everything this novella was trying to do. Definitely check the trigger warnings too!

This was super dark. I was a quick read and I enjoyed it. I’ve been a big Karina Halle fan for a few years now and I love her writing. While I enjoyed this one, I didn’t love it as much as other books of hers and I think that was purely because of the length. It was pretty short compared to her usual boss and because of that, there wasn’t as much of a story, I feel like I had a few unanswered question at the end. Would love for this to become a series or read a spinoff from this. Check your trigger warnings and happy reading!
