I loved this book so much and laughed aloud right from the start. I was in love with all the well written characters. Such a fun way to spend a few hours. LOVED IT!

Three-plus. A rather lovely romance, dipped in melancholy.

Things I liked: The writing. The characters and their more realistic relationships than you'd usually find in a romance.

Things I didn't like: Holy cow, the drama, the drama, the endless (10 years' worth) drama.

Not very Christmas-y, except at the beginning and the end, which read like a scene out of a holiday movie.

A pleasant way to spend a few hours.

Oh, I loved it. I loved this book with tears in my eyes, butterflies in my stomach and my heart in my hands. I loved every beautiful word of it, and I truly never wanted this story to end. I don't want to give too much away, so I won't mention the ending (that perfect, cry your eyes out ending) but I will say that this was the perfect ending to my 2018 Reading Challenge.

One Day In December reminds us all of what it's like to first fall into the messy, uncertain world of love. Laurie James is a 20 something sweetheart living in London with her best friend, Sarah. I usually can't get behind emails friendships in books. They always seem so forced and so untrue. This one was totally different. This friendship made me ache for the same. I am utterly jealous of their love for one another, through their toughest tests as friends.

With the exception of a couple of characters (looking at you, Cressida - any woman with a name which includes salad items is officially on my enemy list), I loved everyone. The character development in this book is spectacular and I felt truly immersed in Laurie's friendship group.

Now onto Jack. Jack is the man of everyone's dreams, and I think it's safe to say we're all either hoping to find our Jack one day, or we already have him. You wouldn't settle for anyone but Jack if you'd met him. I felt so utterly loved up and this book made me even more grateful for my lovely husband (cringe all you want - read this book and then tell me you don't feel the same way!!)

In summary, this book made me fall in love. With friendships, with Jack, with my own husband all over again. It is the perfect way to finish off 2018. Thank you, Josie Silver, for writing such a breathtakingly beautiful book. I look forward to reading literally everything you write in the future.

(trying to embrace a one-star review here and there. no one hex me.)

UGHHHHHHH.

I’m so sorry, but I genuinely think that a years-long love story between two characters with almost no chemistry (riddled with lying, cheating, and some of the most insufferable miscommunication I’ve ever read) needs to be built on something more substantial than “girl falls in love at first sight with boy at a bus stop.”

maybe this would’ve felt swoonworthy to me when I was fifteen... but at my grown age? oh, I'd be so embarrassed if I were in this situation.

I liked this book, there were parts that were frustrating because I felt like some of the events that happened were not very realistic, but overall I enjoyed the story! My true rating would be 3.5 stars.
