I got an ARC of this book.
The world of this book was different than other omegaverse books I've read. Omegas are trained from a young age on how to become the perfect mate by taking care of their alphas' needs, running the household, entertaining, being a perfect trophy wife, and they are usually mated between 18-20. A mating is in two parts, the bite and the consummation, both are required to lock in the bond. Evie is 22 and her family is eager to get her mated. Her father is at his wits end and forces her to say yes to the Blackwood pack or he'll find a worse pack. Her stepmother has to be the center of attention at all times and constantly belittles Evie. The Blackwood pack, Damien (heir to Blackwood Enterprises), Asher (violinist), Cole (MMA fighter) & Lake (artist) had an omega who left them and broke their bond leaving them devastated. Damien's father is threatening to remove him as heir to the company if he doesn't mate with Evie.
Evie decides to make the best of the situation but Damien convinces his pack to reject her at every turn. They treat her poorly to make her break things off, the worst being not completing the mating. Evie has no where to go, the humiliation it'll cause will ruin her family. I love when Evie claims her power by taking control of the household. There is a lot of really great back and forth banter between her and Damien and sweeter moments with Asher, Cole, and Lake. When the consequences for their actions happen, the men realize how awful and inconsiderate they've been. There really wasn't adequate groveling time, broken trust is really hard to mend and it happened quite quickly. It got glossed over by her heat and I wish the time to heal was more of the story.

This is my first time reading Harper Lennox, but it certainly won’t be my last. I loved Evie and her strength despite how let down she is and continues to be in her life. She refuses to be the passive victim and I was elated to see her finally have her worth celebrated in the end. This is a story of redemption and second chances; and I cannot recommend it enough! Definitely a hard read at time (so check your content earnings) but worth every tear.
