What happens when a socialite moves across the country so she can cozy up to her unrequited love only to find that he’s leaving for the summer and has arranged for someone else to rent his room... a whole lot of crazy… hehe. Let’s find out!
Read if you like: contemporary romance, dual POV, rom coms, unlikely couple, forced proximity, friends to lovers, opposites attract, two people who are stuck in their lives and need a push… so yeah, personal growth!
Clara Wheaton just wrecked her life. She quit her job and moved across the country to hopefully kindle a friends-to-lovers story out of her long-term crush and childhood bestie. But he leaves her on his doorstep with a key and the name of his roommate replacement. Josh. When Clara finds out how Josh is relatively famous in the ::ahem:: film industry, they must figure out how to avoid potentially the biggest scandal in Wheaton history. But their friendship opens doors to a unique opportunity and an attraction that is hard to deny. But oh, how they try.
This book is absolutely delightful! And here’s the thing… you think you’re getting a romcom, but you’re actually getting a social discourse on propriety and sexuality and empowering people in understanding their needs. I mean, you also get a rom com… but its all that stuff, too. Our two MCs could not be more different and together they are awkward magic on the page. One’s neat. One’s tidy. Haute couture and hot pockets… you get the picture. But they are both tired of living by the rules that they’ve fallen into. And an unlikely team up project might be the best thing that ever happened to them. It’s adorable and spicy but also just so dang relatable.
My only wish was that we had more of their relationship on the page. The pining was super cute but it was drawn out. I wanted more acceptance and acknowledging their attraction and that sweet spot of we could… but should we? But what we do get is a ton of personal growth and self-exploration into worthiness and desire, both romantically and professionally. It was so cute and the audio narrators did a great job! Would totally recommend spending some time on the couch with Rosie Danan and The Roommate.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ this was surprisingly moving, and a great lesson in self-reflection and loving yourself. Josh and Clara had amazing chemistry from their first encounter. These characters are layered with baggage and it is a great ride seeing them "unpack" and grow.

The book had so much potential but it didn’t live up to it tbh.I expected so much more from it but nevertheless I liked the book( just a little disappointed) It was written in 3rd person pov which led to me only being invested after page 100 but that could just be me.

The premise of the book was different and interesting. It was nice to see the relationship develop between the MMC and FMC though there was pining. Appreciated that there was no OM drama and the women got on. The ending did feel a little rushed though with the FMC suddenly having an epiphany of her feelings and shedding beliefs ingrained in her by her family.
