I really wish there were a 4.5 star capability. I've meant to read this since I was a kid, and still it was a pleasant surprise. It's an enjoyable, inventive adventure of a kid in a magical place, and it's an allegory too.
Points off because everything was a pun.
Also not quite sure why it was a tollbooth, but whatever.

Another one I can't believe that I had never read. Absolutely loved, loved, loved this tale of Milo's adventures into the world of words and numbers. Will read this again every few years.
