Is it a kids book that adults can enjoy, or a book for grownups posing as a children's book? Either way, it's a delightful read on two levels. For kids it's an Alice-in-Wonderland style journey with all sorts of interesting characters (the Humbug!) and situations. For adults, it's full of witty wordplay, laugh out loud jokes, and surprise puns. All wrapped up into an allegory on the value of learning - appropriate to all ages. Worth a re-read every couple of years.

Harder to read aloud than in your head. Still funny and lovable though.

Previewing for J's 8th grade year. I really didn't need to re-read this one (though it has been many years now since I read it with C, and many more since I enjoyed it as a child), but with everything going on in the world today it was a welcome escape.

Most kids approach this book before 8th grade, but J hadn't picked it up on her own yet and somehow it kept getting overlooked, so I wanted to be sure to share it with her this year.

Very clever book for the young ones.

This book is hilarious yall :)
