A great sequel. This was always one of my favourite Ruby Redfort books - I always loved the way the plot came together, the personal history and mythology and the foreshadowing all the way through. As a read-through, I was just waiting for the moments when everything came together.

I mean, I did need a light read, but with this I felt like there was no climax, no direction the plot was going whatsoever. I hope the third one is better.

Nevertheless, I recommend this book, to everyone - children, because it is for children, teenagers - because sometimes you just need to relax, mate, adults - because I feel like if my parents sometimes read a book like this, they'd maybe even try to be nicer to themselves, really (but that's just family drama, don't worry 'bout it).

Don't tell anyone but I think Ruby Redfort is awesome! Ha ha a great character who really makes the series what it is, full of codes and ridiculous set ups with an overarching theme in the background, and plenty of meandering to get there, but at its core its all about Ruby.
