When Yrene was introduced in Tower of Dawn I always wanted to imagine the meeting she would have had with Celaena that triggered her towards her destiny.

This novella takes place between the events after The Assassin and The Pirate Lord and the next novella, which is The Assassin and The Desert. This is told from Yrene. Celaena saved her from an incident. This young lady lost her home, family and dreams. I felt the struggle that Celaena was facing. It could have been more developed to be great. It was an interesting read.
why is the first character named nolan,,,, war flashbacks... celeana has some good moments despite her arrogance... i feel like we will see yrene again
My favourite novella so far. Just a lovely story.
After rereading I actually preferred the more action packed ones, still incredibly insightful into Celaenas Character but not an eventful one. Still wonderful though.
