Wow. Forget all the cheesy, sub-par romances I've read lately - this one finally measures up! Great story, great characters and a plot line that doesn't overdo it. The hesitation is totally understandable. I do love it when an author doesn't string us along with maddeningly indecisive characters. There was some doubt here, but it wasn't too quickly or conveniently resolved - or too long and drawn out. This is the goldilocks romance I love.
Emma Wilder and Zachary Webber were wonderful.

Blakely Foxx is a recent divorcee at 38 whose ex is already engaged to a much younger woman months after their divorce is finalized. She meets Slade Henderson, who is in his early 30's, at a bar. Their paths continue to cross, thankfully when she's confronted with her ex and his new fiancee on the street. He vows to help her at a staff retreat by faking a relationship and helping her secure a promotion that seems to be out of reach. But once the retreat is over, they must decide where they stand in their fake relationship what seemingly feels very real.
I related to a lot of this book so hard. Blakely was such a great, complex character. The way the turmoils of being a woman in her late 30's, especially single, were so spot on. Blakely saw herself working at the ad agency she's been at for decades under a much younger woman who has it out for her and is preventing her promotion. Blakely had been walked over in recent years but pretty much everyone in her life and needed to find her backbone and sexuality again. She needed to remember how to be her. Slade was such a confident, fun character for her. I loved watching him coax out who she is and what she's capable of. The sweet things that he did for her to either make her happy or help her succeed in figuring things out with her supervisor were swoon-worthy. So often in our late 30's, women are supposed to be moms and/or serious, but some of us aren't moms, nor are we super serious. I loved how they both pined for each other and ultimately chose to be together.

Blakely & Slade
This book took me by surprise, I thought it's going to be just a sweet steamy read but it's totally not and I ended devoured it in just one sitting.
This one has a lot of depth, a journey to find yourself after divorce, to get back that confidence inside yourself, just how to enjoy life, lots of ups and downs, lots of drama and troubles, it's like watching those rom-com movies, lots of laughter and there's one sexy hot doctor that guaranteed will sweep you off your feet with all those charms and sexiness.
Great characters that got me rooting for their happiness from the first chapter, easy-to-read romance story that keeps me turning page after page, some steaminess here and there, and plenty things that put big smile on my face, yup this book become a perfect romance read for me and definitely a MUST-READ for romance readers.

The chemistry. The banter. The sexy times. All fantastic. But I was wholly invested in Slade’s side story, however unrealistic it was (medical professionals are mandated reporters of suspected or known child abuse). Also, I wish we got to see a bit more of Blakely’s work life after the retreat. Outside of that, I loved the story! We love an emotionally intelligent man.
Slade is sooo cute;)
Slade is one totally swoon worthy guy & he’s a doctor too! He & Blakely are perfect for each other:)

I really loved Slade and Blakely together and Blakely feeling washed up and kind of like she's failing nearing 40 resonated and felt true.
I did wish the ending had a little baby surprise since Blakely wanted kids and women are having kids in their 40s now.
a minor nit
I really felt like this was a great younger man, older woman romance - very realistic.
Someone who is 39 Vs 31. It's a 8-year difference, yea I agree could be in diff life stages or not. Same decade, some 31 year old guys are ready to settle down and I thought this worked really well.
