TJR you’ve done it again.

At first I was unsure about this one. I know nothing about space and the extent of the universe terrifies me. But yes, of course I would love to read about astronauts - especially two female gay astronauts who love each other!

The beginning was intense and then it was slow, as we retold the story of how Joan got here, starting with Frances and Barbara - and I’m glad how their storyline ended bc Frances deserved better - so I will say I wish the plot had a bit more weaving between the 1984 and the building up to it.

BUT, everything else was too good to get caught up in that. It was beautiful. It was a message to life. Everyone probably thought it was cliche and cheesy, but it’s exactly what I needed. It’s exactly what I’d hoped it would be. Sometimes you got to be cheesy about life, because 1) you only have one 2) we are 1 in 8 billion people AND less than specks of dust in the universe AND just humans living in the time of the expansive history of the universe that we HAPPENED to get lucky to exist 3) who cares what everyone else thinks, if it makes you feel good, it’s good.

And the ending was perfect, TJR played with my feelings (as always) but I needed the MCs to get everything they ever wanted in the end. That’s how life should be. And I hope the same for myself and everyone else I love, and everyone who gets the chance to be a human or a living thing in this complicated universe and time.
