Exciting, eventful, and surprising, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing takes on complex concepts the dangers of 21st century fame and polarizing ideology with a funny, imperfect protagonist and many twists and turns.
Hank had unique and thoughtful insight on what fame can do to a person. He even said in his acknowledgements page “I could not have written this book if I had not been taken on a weirdly remarkable journey into Tier 3 fame…” On the flip side of this is probably a me problem, but as someone who knows Hank Green’s “voice” a little too we’ll, I did find it somewhat distracting to read at parts.
Overall, I’m very excited to read the next book!

My sister handed me this book and I was super skeptical because I (like so many others) had been victim to terrible John Green books in middle school, and I assumed that Hank Green wouldn't be much better... BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!!! This book was insanely amazing and held my interest until I finally got to that cliffhanger at the end. It was mysterious, thrilling, funny, and a surprisingly good commentary on the self corruption fame can lead to. I highly recommend, just cause it's good

***MILD SPOILERS AHEAD***

I truly believe that everyone should read this book. One of the reasons is because we live in this period of time in which the amount of likes and followers you have is seen as one of the greatest things you could accomplish. And even if it actually is a great accomplishment for creators, some of them spiral down into a dark, superficial version of the world in which nothing else matters except getting more followers. April, like many creators, does try to use her fame to help a bigger cause. This is why I like this book so much, because even if the choices she made weren't always the best she always tried to use her fame and notoriety for a good reason. I'm glad that Hank decided to touch this topic not only on the story but also on his author's note at the end. However, the main reason I believe everyone should read this book is because it perfectly depicts what humanity is capable to do due to their fear. Most importantly, how we should fight against letting our fear control us and stick together. One of my favorite phrases of this book is "This is what humanity is, solidarity in the face of fear." I believe we should start practicing it more.

Plus, Hank narrates Andy's POV. Chef's kiss.

R u kidding me? A masterpiece. I was hooked from the very beginning. If I tried to say out loud what I liked about this book, it wouldn't sound like it works. But it does. Reminiscent of my favorite book of all time, the True Meaning of Smekday. I don't know I mean come on, this book was so good. As a reminder I am single
