I thought this book was really compelling. It wasn't just a love story between romantic partners, but a love story between a girl and her family. Although it was a bit slow to start, I found myself compelled to return to the story even at times when I thought I didn't want to. The characters are well developed, multifaceted, and easy to understand because they almost feel like people one knows in real life. Overall, I can see myself returning to read more of Josie Silver's novels and diving into her universe!

It was…o.k. Started off great then sorta fizzled out after page 250 or so.

This was a good book, although depressing. I liked the ending, even if Jonah thought it wasn't realistic. I think it is.

Loved her first book. But this one was such a slow burn and overly sentimental. I guess it was more about character building than plot driven.

The first half of this book was so strong. Lydia navigating grief and her relationships was complicated and deep, but very real. There were moments that had me nearly in tears because you could feel the devastation the characters struggled with from an untimely death.

The second half of the book felt rushed and a little messy (but maybe that’s also how Lydia must have felt). I was disappointed in the ending because it felt disconnected and cliche, but also there wasn’t really any background character building to suggest it was a possibility. I did like that there was some character growth as Lydia learned how to live with her grief and not run away from it.

If there’s anything to take from this book, it’s the importance of your community when you’re going through hard times.

I loved One Day in December, but this reallly dragged. I didn’t understand the purpose of the dream sequences with Freddie, which were repetitive and droll. I found the plot to be lackluster, and I ended up DNF-ing this book at 75% because it was seriously so uninteresting to read.
