This was a very bittersweet book. I thought it was strong and the plot was good; I did think that Lydia was a bit in her head too much. I understand that people deal with grief differently but it comes to a point where you need to move on as best as you can. I thought there would be a different ending where Lydia gets addicted to the pink pills.
Also, and I hate for this to sound bad, but some of the 'Asleep" chapters I couldn't care less about.
But other than that, I loved the story!

Summary
Lydia and Freddie. Freddie and Lydia. They’d been together for more than a decade and Lydia thought their love was indestructible. But she was wrong. On Lydia’s twenty-eighth birthday, Freddie died in a car accident.
So now it’s just Lydia, and all she wants is to hide indoors and sob until her eyes fall out. But Lydia knows that Freddie would want her to try to live fully, happily, even without him. So, enlisting the help of his best friend, Jonah, and her sister, Elle, she takes her first tentative steps into the world, open to life—and perhaps even love—again.
But then something inexplicable happens that gives her another chance at her old life with Freddie. A life where none of the tragic events of the past few months have happened.
Lydia is pulled again and again through the doorway to her past, living two lives, impossibly, at once. But there’s an emotional toll to returning to a world where Freddie, alive, still owns her heart. Because there’s someone in her new life, her real life, who wants her to stay.

God.
This book made me cry a lot. Until we got about 75% in, Freddie reminded me a lot of my own fiancé and I had take a couple breaks to hug him or stare at him and remind myself he's still alive.
It was a five-star read up until that 75% mark where it started to slow down and I became less invested in the story. I also started to dislike Freddie a little bit, which lessened the emotional toll this story had on me because I was no longer comparing him to my fiancé. (Which was good for my poor, sad ol' heart, but it changed the connection I had with the story.)
I wasn't a huge fan of the romance at the end, but it was still sweet anyway.

Felt a bit unsure of this book. Loved some parts, hated others. Rushed in parts, liked the ending if a bit cliched. Overall a cute read.
I wasn’t too drawn into this book to begin with, the first bit of the book was emotional. However, the further song I got with the story, the more I became drawn in and I found it to be a good book.
Overall, it’s about overcoming grief and becoming a stronger person. It’s also a nice reminder of how precious the world and people are :)

I loved about 85% of the book. There are lines about grief and loss that really resonated with me. While I guessed Jonah and Lydia would end up together, the ending felt rushed and fell flat for me. Overall, I appreciate this book.
This was well-written, just too slow and not enough forward motion for me.
Super cute read...totally saw the ending coming but still cried LOLLL.
after reading the plot, I thought it was going to be sort of supernatural or something? and she was actually able to live in both lives, but it's actually just because she takes sleeping pills and dreams about her life pre-Freddie's death. Except the timelines line up.
I didn't enjoy this one as much as One Day In December. I feel like it dragged on sort of long sometimes and was hard to get through because I'd get bored. But overall it was a good read!

Spoiler
And then she ends up going on a date with this one dude but I thought she was going to end up with Jonah (her and Freddie's best friend) until that happened. But the guy gets a job offer in London or something so it's clear that it won't work out. And then in her dream world, Jonah lowkey sort of tells her that he's been in love with her this whole time. And in her real world, something like that happens too (he goes to LA because he wrote a script about boyhood and friendship and life and losing your best friend, etc. and he also talks about loving your best friend's girlfriend so......). anyway they end up together and it's v cute
A beautiful story about love, loss, grief and finding yourself and finding love again.
