  • I loved that this wasn’t just a story about a girl falling in love with her late fiance’s friend. It really dove deep into the way people change over time and circumstances and experiences are what make you who you are.
  • In Lydia’s dreams with her fiancé, over time she realizes that they aren’t the perfect fit that they used to be. I adored this storyline — it wasn’t about her fiance having never been “the one.” He was, at one point. But his death changed her, shaped her like every experience in our lives. And the new Lydia? Her “the one” isn’t the same man.

Not quite three stars. This took nearly half the book for me to sink into it and enjoy the character development. I predicted the end within the first third of the story but stuck with it because the characters were worth getting to know.

No no no nonono. NO.

Josie Silver did something in this book that I absolutely loathe and omg, NOPE. Full review coming soon.

I feel extra emotional about this book because I couldn’t stop replacing the main character with my friend who recently lost her husband unexpectedly, and I think that my real life examples of the events in this book kept me from becoming fully invested in this character and her story.  TW: loss of a spouse, miscarriage.

More women’s fiction and less romance for my tastes but still an interesting, heartfelt journey through grief with a lovably British supporting cast

This was definitely an interesting book. I liked the format and the idea of the story, but still was a bit strange. Overall just an ok read.
