Unlike authors of most fiction involving guns and shooting, Hunter knows and understsnds firearms, shooting, reloading, and all things associated. It's a pleasure to read someething where I don't find myself groaning about mistakes and confusion on the topic.

An excellent thriller that pulls together the plots and characters of the author's previous books [b:Point Of Impact|127712|Point Of Impact (Bob Lee Swagger, #1)|Stephen Hunter|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1315656617s/127712.jpg|3870] and [b:Dirty White Boys|868486|Dirty White Boys|Stephen Hunter|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1358245058s/868486.jpg|3874]. Had my favorite type of plot, great characters, and realistic action.

The book is surprisingly a deeper look at the relationships between fathers and sons than one might expect from a Stephen Hunter novel. It still is at its core an action/thriller but the other stuff is well handled and adds welcome depth to the genre.
The actual plot is pretty good but is maybe a little too convoluted to really work, but is plenty good enough to be worth reading.

Swagger is basically the same, but back in his home town with lots of history there. Sad in many ways. But well developed and told, not quite as strong as the first book.

solid Bob Lee swagger, very hard to predict which way it's going.

Black Light has intrigue, suspense and tension. It is easy to follow even though it goes between two time periods. The character development is fantastic.
