An interesting mystery novel. It turns out that the character I suspected from the beginning was the murderer. It’s the explanation that I couldn’t completely figure out.

Love these Shetland murder mysteries - I think I need to watch the show, too. This one was about old bones and new bones, and who knew about them.

I'm so annoyed with myself. Was convinced I had finally worked one out! Cleverly written, love all the descriptions.

I continue to find the Jimmy Perez novels fascinating. Ann Cleeves manages to write a detective who isn't a man driven to drink by the job like so many others, and her murderers aren't really bloodthirsty. I was glad to see more of Sandy Wilson, particularly since the mystery involved his family so deeply. This is a deft, quiet thriller.

I love these :(

Archeology, Shetland, escapades during the war, all the qualities of a lovely mystery.

I think I like the setting of this particular series more than the people.
