Once again Sierra sucks in me and doesn’t let go until the very end and even on the last page I’m left wanting more and more.

I never expect to get into the ThornChapel world and fall in love with six different characters and be so invested in their stories, their motivations, their hurts, their wants and longings.

I really can’t pick a certain character I loved from books 1 in this series.

The audio by Sara Ormenyi was top notch. I love everything about it.

Book 2 is burning a hole in my bookshelf wanting to be read. But I love savoring mami Sierra reads. The anticipation and longing is addicting and I DONT want rehab 😈.

Whoa nelly, this is definitely not erotica for the weak of heart. This is the start of a series about a group of friends who met as children on the estate of Thorn Chapel and ran wild their parents had some mysterious work to do.

But it mainly revolves around the return of Proserpina, or Poe, from the USA to the hall just as Auden Guest, the son of the owner, has gathered the rest of his childhood friends around him. Poe is hired to catalogue the library, but she's been trying to find her way back to Thorn Chapel and Auden and their friend Saint Sebastien for her whole life.

Gathered together, the group decides to reenact an ancient Imbolc celebration invoking St. Brigid.

But really they just all want to live into their own sexualities. Poe is especially complicated in that she's a sub and craves a Domme, as well as the two men, but Auden is engaged to another of their friends.

This is extremely steamy. Almost too steamy as there is little plot beyond the deciding to have a ritual. But what Simone does so well here is layer the steam in extremely emotional inner lives of the characters. We want them to get together, probably yearn for it as much as the characters themselves because we begin to fall a little in love with all of them, too. This is body-positive, matter-of-fact lbgtq+ positive, and kink positive as well. I definitely have to go on to read the second in the series.

The book ends on a slight cliffhanger surrounding Poe's mother and there is no real resolution in the relationship area yet. Very compelling. Very steamy.

Picked this up as a re-read last month in honour of the series' re-release. This was my first time checking out the audiobook, and Sara Ormenyi was a delight to listen to, each character felt so distinct and her portrayal of each matched what I had envisioned when reading the novel. There are moments when her breathing and swallowing between sentences becomes quite noticeable to the point where it took me out of the narrative briefly at times, but she has a great lyrical voice for this type of story.

I love the aesthetic of this series and the spooky, gothic vibe I get with the way Sierra Simone describes all the different locations of Thornchappel House.  Having already read the entire series before, I think one of my favourite things about the first book is that it does prioritise plot over smut - we have a few moments between characters leading up to the Ritual, and of course, the Ritual itself, but the tension building and the relationship development between various characters is done so beautifully I could happily sit and read about the mythology and the pining and angst for days on end. Sierra has such a gorgeous writing style and it’s conveyed so well in this novel and adapted beautifully for the audiobook. There’s something uniquely cosy about this read, I cannot wait to continue to listen to the rest of the audiobooks.

This book was a wild ride for sure want to see where the story goes but all the different POVS kinda confused me but I liked it a fair amount I definitely liked how all their stories/relationships like came together

Holy mother of God, was this saucy...

Edit: REREAD to see if I’m interested in reading the sequel. Yeeeeeaaahhh, I’m gonna pass.
