This book has left me stunned. I read it for a book club, but I was blown away by the way I devoured it! It was so good, so well-written, and so unbelievably spicy. It’s not going to be for everyone - there’s an exploration of k!nk and fluid relationships most aren’t going to be comfortable with along with working through some religious trauma and discussion of religion and some pagan rituals. I am so excited about the series being reprinted by Bloom - I don’t know that I would have picked it up so soon if it hadn’t.

A Lesson in Thorns:
Sierra Simone (Thornchapel, #1)
Thornchapel knows my name and the crooked corners of my heart, and it wants me to make promises that I’m going to keep.
Boy oh boy, okay. As with any Sierra Simone book, this was such a ride. Sierra has this way of writing that you really feel like you’re in a character’s head. You actually feel like you’re thinking what they’re thinking and doing what they’re doing and I’ve always loved that in every single book of hers. This was hot, yes, but the angst and the tension and the murder mystery really kept me going so much. I have a need to know what happened between Saint and Auden, to find out what happened to Poe’s mom, to see Rebecca give in more to Delphine, and to learn about Becket who I think is the most mysterious one to me so far. If Saint and Auden are anything like Embry and Ash, I’m not sure I’ll survive it but as with anything by Sierra Simone, I cannot help but keep going.
