Oh my gosh this was amazing! It definitely redeemed the series for me.
For the recent Cassandra Clare books that I've read, I've had a hard time with all the long chapters and stuff, but I didn't notice that with this one. (I read it in 2 or 3 days.) There was a lot more action in this one, and all the loose ends were coming together, so my attention was firmly focused on the book.
2 minor things that I had a problem with. 1) Brother Enoch was alive. I'm 99.9% sure that he died in Book 2 when the Silent Brothers were attacked, because that was where Brother Zachariah came in. So, Enoch got reincarnated or something, which was confusing. 2) That night before the final battle with Sebastian, where they all had their little romantic interludes. It just broke up the action a little for me, and it didn't seem like the correct response to a life or death situation.
I got a little sad at various parts. And some of the ships...let's not even talk about those because they were threatened and broken and reunited and oh gosh it was quite the ride. But I loved just about every second of it!
The ending was amazing! Prediction for the next series with Emma Carstairs:
I had to look up Shadowhunter family trees online because I was getting really confused about how people in the Infernal Devices were related to people in this series.
So, even if you struggled with some of the middle books of TMI, this one is totally worth it! Why I waited so long to pick it up, I don't know...well actually I do, it's because it was $25. Somehow I got it on my kindle for $3.25!!!! I rejoiced, obviously;)

Spoiler
Jordan's death actually wasn't that emotional, but the Simon thing definitely and Raphael I was actually sad over. The ending was amazing! Prediction for the next series with Emma Carstairs:

Faerie War. Just, Faerie War. It's perfect.I had to look up Shadowhunter family trees online because I was getting really confused about how people in the Infernal Devices were related to people in this series.
Spoiler
like how Emma could be related to Jem if Jem never had kids. His dad had a brother who Emma is descended from, in case anyone was wondering too.So, even if you struggled with some of the middle books of TMI, this one is totally worth it! I really liked this book! I was getting tired of the whole series (I still like Infernal Devices better), but this one redeemed everything for me. It brought so many things together without being completely unbelievable. I liked how it brought things together but opened the next story of the Blackthorns and Carstairs. I'm excited to read the next series! The tie-ins with Brother Zacariah and Tessa was great.
Sebastian is basically unstoppable. But somehow, Jace, Clary and co., come together to take him out. I love that they resolved the Simon-Clary story without it seeming at all contrived. I couldn't stop reading. Loved it. I am sad it is over but am excited to see where the world goes in the future.

this book was the first heartbreak i ever experienced in 2015… i remember waiting outside barnes and noble before it opened to get my copy, just to be hurt beyond what i thought possible as i finished it a few days later. almost 10 years later it hurts just as much. simon lewis is the blueprint for a friend, boy friend, even just a general human.
i actually don’t care one single bit that this is a book geared towards 14-16 year olds. i don’t care if it’s a bit cheesy at times. it continues to be one of my favorite series of all time.
the world building, the emotions, the realistic character reactions to situations both good and bad, it’s all perfection. i love how this series and especially this book shows the levels of relationships - romantic, friendship, familial - and how complicated they can be, even changing by the minute.
i recommend this series to anyone with my whole chest.
