I really enjoyed this graphic novel. Tabby's father dies of mysterious means and she is left with suspicions of what has happened. She is an outcast thanks to her father's research work and spends a lot of her time alone. Eventually she stumbles upon a young man who has stepped out of a whole other place, obviously not of Earth. After being pulled into a portal, she finds a whole other world. Can she get home? Is she safe? Will Phillip, her new found friend be able to help her?

The story is really thought out and the graphics do a wonderful job of supporting the plot. Readers are treated to some wonderful elements such as portal travel, other worlds, elemental magic and more. Kibuishi does a wonderful job of world building, especially in so few pages. The feel reminds me so much of when I read A Wrinkle in Time as a teenager and has similar elements. I really enjoyed the creation myth behind the Geist and how it plays into the world. Overall a real solid read and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Very beautiful, colorful and interesting world. The characters are very likeable and I think it did a great job with the building from the very first volume. I will definitely follow this series.

The return of a much-beloved webcomic series from the mid-aughts in a brand new iteration. Rema is a portal fantasy adventure with a dash of mystery, following a loveable cast of characters. Perfect for fans of shojo fantasy.
