My first thought after reading this book was “is that it?” I was in a constant state of boredom throughout this book, and for a lot of the book I despised the writing style. I this, I that, I did. I just couldn’t enjoy it.

Parts of this book were interesting and in places the book did pick up, however I was always a bit bored, never fully engaged, found the plot predictable and I just skimmed the last 20 or so pages because I had to make the book end.

A disappointing read and one I will forget very quickly.

I found the premise of this book a great one, a ghostly narrator who initially is confined to platform seven of Peterborough station. But as the story unfolds what seemed so obvious turns out to be so wrong. The abusive relationship she finds herself in is detailed with chilling reality as she contrasts that with real, true love by and for others. I found the ending unbearably sad as, at peace with herself, she drifts off to reassure someone who unconditionally loved her that the love they showed wasn’t wasted. A great read from Pigeonhole, thank you!

My main problem with this is that it is not what it said it would be. I don't see how it's a mystery/thriller, it read more like a domestic fiction book. The main premise is very intriguing but it doesn't follow through and felt really pointless (and honestly I don't know if I missed it while listening to the audiobook but I don't even know what the connection actually was xd). This already lessened my enjoyment but in addition, it was very slow paced and to be honest, kind of boring. I really wanted to like it because the premise was really cool, but when books don't follow their own premises, it rarely is that good...

Trigger warnings: abuse

This is not a thriller. The cover and description package this story as something it very much is not.

Setting that aside, I found parts of this story unsettling, and tragic, and chilling. But it wasn't a thriller. I found Lisa's story and journey to find closure incredibly compelling but could have done without the side plot point. I understand that the suicide worked as a catalyst, but I wish that was done in a different way.

Ultimately, I would recommend this book, but do not go into it expecting a thriller.

4.5 stars

The story starts off very slow, introducing so many characters and detailing their mundane lives for so long that I was bored for the first maybe eighteen percent, but there is a point to all of it, so I'm glad I stuck it out. From there, you get to the meat of the story and all of the things thought to have been unnecessary thread together very nicely, and it makes the story feel like it is something that really happened.

I really enjoyed the parts detailing Lisa's life, the ups and downs of it, and the manipulation and gaslighting that occurs - I thought this was all well done. Parts were intriguing, some had my heart pounding, and others were very sweet. This is a book that will stick with me for a while.

As a side-note, I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was excellent! Her voice was soothing, I thought her voices and accents were impressive, and she seemed to embody the main character quit well. If you have access to the audiobook, I recommend getting the story that way.

I can’t think of one thing I enjoyed about this. I’m very thankful I didn’t spend money on this.

WOW I am FINALLY done this book. I really hated this book sorry to say. The only reason it has 2 stars and not 1 is because I actually did enjoy reading about Lisa's past. This book took me way too long to finish, it was so boring.
