Although I was inspired by this world, it just wasn't developed enough. As a result, it felt overly complicated and underwhelming at the same time. Explaining how the two types of Fae are known as the good Fae and the Bad Fae felt juvenile.
I liked Imogen's character, but none of the rest. The romance build-up between Imogen and Nolan was exciting for me until the end
where Nolan discovers Imogen is his fated mated and like a light switch falls head over heels in love with her

The plot was extremely predictable and there were just too many holes.

I love a fates romance book but man, this was disappointing. It felt kind of childish and rushed? The concept was so good.

I find myself partial to boats.

I don’t enjoy giving scathing reviews, because I can only imagine the amount of work it is to write a book, but I feel like I need to explain my 2-star rating.

I found this book incredibly underwhelming and shallow. The stakes were far from high: rescuing the Prince’s future wife on a tourist boat, which takes only two days and a few squirmishes that last 2 pages and a half? A heroine that learns to master her water manipulation powers during a 5 minute shower? Come on.
The world building was non-existent. The Dark Fae are the bad baddies and the Good Fae (yes, it’s in the title) are the good goodies. The Elemental Fae are somewhere in the middle, not sure what purpose they serve. Maybe in book two?

The romance was absolutely boring. Because there was none. I hate you. Oh you’re my mate? Well I guess I love you now. I rolled my eyes so hard they almost stayed stuck.

And don’t get me started on Imogen accepting so easily to have her ship commandeered just because Bianca is nice to her and they are trying to save a woman. There’s only so much disbelief that I can suspend…

All in all, it wasn’t for me. Plenty of people seem to have enjoyed this book though, and I’m glad, because I feel a bit harsh here. But I said what I said. This was incredibly underwhelming. I skimmed through the last half of book.
Makes me realize I haven’t spoken about her because Imogen is apparently the queen of the water fae… The way she reacted to the news was soooo boring. Like « oh no i don’t want to do that but i guess i’ll have to? » Giiiiirl 4 days ago you didn’t even know what Fae were. Ugh I can’t I just can’t.

And last but not least…! IRELAND DOESN’T USE DOLLARS!!! For crying out loud, if you’re setting a story in a real country, have the decency to do some research.

I would’ve given it a 3 but I felt the execution could be better.
Whenever I was ready for a big over turn of elaborate events the tempo just fell. I felt like I was just reading the events like out of a newspaper lacked the EQ. Even in the scenes where we had some EQ it felt misplaced like why do you even feel this way.

Overall a decent quick read but yeah I didn’t see any reason for the FMC to like the MMC.

Catch you late,
Koko

Average. Not bad, not incredible. I finished, but won’t seek out further books in the series. A lot of plot happened in the last 10% or so. Like, it zoomed through some major things.
