Ce qui fait l'originalité de ce livre c'est qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un réel récit autobiographique, ni d'un roman, ni d'un essai philosophique, mais d'un mélange des trois genres agrémenté de photos, dessins et références littéraires.
André Breton mène ses lectrices/lecteurs au centre du mouvement surréaliste, plaide contre la privation des libertés et rejette les convenances.
Énigmatique, foudroyante et insaisissable, Nadja incarne la figure du surréalisme bien qu'elle existât vraiment (de son vrai Léona Camille Ghislaine Delacourt, décédée en 1941).

j'ai essaye--c'etait pour un cours de litterature comparative. Trop dure pour moi! Le surrealisme en translation est difficile...
So, I read this one for our report about Surrealist Literature. Going in, I thought I would get bored or hate the book...but I didn't. Reading it felt like a fever dream, and while the snippets didn't have strong logical connections, I was moved. I was drawn in. Granted, Nadja as a character is very much a manic pixie dream girl, but damn. There were so many interesting discussions about the self, existentialism, psychiatry, psychology, art (especially about the theater and about paintings and illustrations). The writing was moving, and contrast of images heightened the atmosphere. Damn.
