Glad I listened to it instead of reading it. Some parts were pretty funny (and I don't think they would have been as funny on paper), but it got a little dull at times too.

Hilarious silliness from Jon Stewart! Aliens, if you come to Earth & find us all gone, you can use this book to find out Everything You Need to Know About Humanity but Were Too Busy Picking Up Our Mess To Ask. That is the premise of the book. I read the Actual Book (I know - call me a Luddite, whatever, yawn). It's arranged like a textbook, with plenty of pictures, & categories for easy reference such as Clothing, Villages, Trade, Investing ("The skilled investor had to balance the potential reward of great profits and short-lived joy against the risk of loss and permanent sadness. This is why the very best investors were unfeeling sociopaths."), Religion, Science, etc. There is something that will make you Laugh Out Loud on every page! Alert - because this is Jon's humor, there's great potential for finding something among the pages that you will find insulting and/or offensive, & here's something under the category of Books, that will be insulting to many of you! "Ongoing serials were perfect for shy readers who were uncomfortable meeting new protagonists. They were considered a gateway drug for actual literature."

Heh, heh!!

If you like Jon Stewart & The Daily Show, you'll love this book. If not, then I Wish You Good Day, Sir or Ma'am!

Fun book to read during leisure time. Comprehensive and interesting facts presented in a satirical way. As it is written by comedians, it is not as complex as what we might prefer. I do like how it makes one contemplate a universe without humans and begs us to take an objective look at our idiosyncrasies.

brilliant, just brilliant. i think the audiobook is probably better than the text because jon stewart, john oliver, wyatt cenac and samantha bee are all reading. hilarious satire about human life and earth in general. read this (no...listen to it!)!

This was a pretty fast read, if by "pretty fast" you mean "I was home all day anyway with nothing better to do." Modeled after those kids' encyclopedias with lots of pictures and captions, as opposed to long paragraphs, Earth (The Book) is designed to be read a page or two at a time. The book delves into everything the reader -- future alien visitors to our planet, now deserted of human life -- could want to know about us, from science to culture to life cycles.

As might be expected from the host of The Daily Show, Earth (The Book) is full of wry, sarcastic humor that requires an in-depth knowledge of pop culture to understand. It's also distinctly not work-safe. There's a full page on pornography, and scattered explicit sexual images throughout the rest of the book. That said, it's quite entertaining, if not particularly informative.

Final verdict: a fun read, though not something I need to have on my shelf.

Hilarious. Tons of pictures, fake graphs, satirical text. It's not designed to be read cover to cover, but more a few pages at a time. Even so, I did read it in big sections, and still had a great time.

Just wish I could see the aliens' face (or whatever they use for one) when they read it.

Not as funny as I wanted it to be.

This is a great book to pick up and put down occasionally for giggles. You can jump in at any place.

sometimes you just need a little John Stewart.

clever daily show-ish observations in the form of a Q&A with aliens . Note - anyone who has worked in a corporation will recognize all the words in the Rosetta Memo ;)

Insanely funny! Highly, highly recommend this book. Embarrassingly enough, I actually even learned some history while reading it.

There is no way to review this book...you just have to read it!!!
