Monica Murphy is one of those authors that I always look forward to, but I couldn't wait for Safe Bet! I haven't read the previous books in this series, but seeing as how it was a crossover to her One Week Girlfriend series I had to read this one! Drew and Fable are some of my all time favorite characters and I couldn't wait to get more of them and see a glimpse into their HEA.

After being kicked out by her parents, Sydney Walker lands a job as the nanny for Drew and Fable Callahan. Though she has never worked before, she loves her new job and everything that it brings with it. But when rumors start that she is having an affair with Drew, Fable comes to the rescue with a plan. Sydney will pretend to be in a relationship with Wade Knox, a rookie from Drew's team. Wade is happy to help out as he feels indebted to the Callahans, but will fake turn into real in a matter of a week?

I liked both Sydney and Wade. While I have read most of the books in the One Week Girlfriend series, I hadn't read any of the Rules series books or the book from OWG in which Wade was introduced so these characters were both new to me. Sydney was sweet and easy to like, which surprised me considering her upbringing and what I had heard about her from previous books. Wade was impossible not to love, and I liked him right away. They were great together and had strong chemistry right off.

Overall, this book was a fun, light read that I really enjoyed. It was great catching up with characters that I had missed from previous books and seeing them play such important roles here. But I also really liked Wade and Sydney. Sweet and sexy, Safe Bet is one that made me want to go back and read all the books from the OWG and Rules series and I think fans of Monica Murphy's will really enjoy this one. If you haven't read all the books in either series don't worry about starting here as this one is easily read as a standalone. I look forward to reading more from Monica Murphy in the future, and I will definitely be reading both of these series when I get the chance after reading Safe Bet.

This was a good breezy short read. Just what I needed after reading some darker books. Wade and Sydney are 2 people thrown together when the paparazzi goes crazy over a BS story about Sydney and her boss. This story while part of a series can be read totally as a stand alone.
Okay so now for what I see is the downside. Mind you, opinions are like body parts just cause you have them doesn't mean we want to see em. This story flounders at the end. It jumps ahead months and boom. Its over. I found that most disappointing. Any who take it for what its worth. This story is told in 1st person alternating point of view.

I loved the Drew + Fable books and will always jump on a chance to delve back into that world and see what's up with one of my favorite couples. SAFE BET revolves around Wade Knox, Fable's brother's best friend and their nanny, Sydney. And their romance starts in a familiar way....a fake girlfriend for one week.

I liked Sydney and Wade together. She was trying to turn her life around after being kicked out of her house and forced to grow up. Wade is trying to secure his spot on the Niners. Their connection is through Sydney's new employers, Drew and Fable Callahan. Wade may have already been a member of the extended Callahan clan, but they easily brought Sydney in and helped her feel at home. And it was easy to see the draw between Sydney and Wade as they spent time together.

What I did miss in this book was the angst. There wasn't any. These two go through a somewhat normal romance, if you take out the fake relationship. They get to know each other and build off of that. It was nice and sweet, even if I did miss the gut-wrenching part.

It was nice to catch up with these characters and made SAFE BET a quick, enjoyable read.

Sydney and Wade were nice together. I liked them both.

But I really read the book for Drew and Fable. Love them!!

There isnt too much drama or angst and we get to catch up with characters from previous books.

Sweet

This was a really low-angst, sweet read. I'm a huge Drew and Fable fan so anything that gets me back to their world is good for me. Wade and Sydney were a good couple. I appreciated the fact that even though they were young they didn't do a lot of the stupid things that often happen in books with young characters. They were both pretty upfront with each other about their pasts which was refreshing. All that being said, it felt like there were a lot of loose ends that never got tied up. I would have liked to hear what choices Sydney made about her future, how Wade did on the team, what happened with the blogger. I think it ended too soon. I did love the bonus scene with Drew and Fable though!

I have previous read Monica Murphy's series The Rules. I hadn't read her series for One Week Girlfriend series. "Safe Bet" was a mashed up of both series. While, I haven't read the other series it didn't take away for the book. The book had back stories which allowed me to be get caught with the storyline. The story centered more around Sydney's job as a nanny with Fable and Drew. Murphy didn't explore the relationship of Sydney and Wade which is a disappointment for the book. I enjoyed reading the "Safe Bet", it wasn't my favorite out of the The Rules series. If you're looking for a cute romance novel that's a fast read "Safe Bet" is your choice!
