Read this for work. I think it's an interesting and logical concept (focusing on your strengths instead of your weaknesses). The blurbs on each strength are only a few pages long and pretty general, I really only felt maybe 2 out of my top 5 were accurate. Maybe the more in-depth, personalized online resources will feel more true to me.
Disclaimer: I only read the first part of the book and then just the sections that pertained to my top strengths.
The nerd in me was TICKLED PINK to open this book and discover the code to take the Clifton Strengths test. I knew I was buying a book that was going to discuss the strengths, but thought I would have to purchase the text on my own. Instead I was gifted with the assessment inside the book AS WELL AS all the information about the strengths. My top five strengths: Learner, Achiever, Discipline, Input, and Intellection were all 100% spot on! I will be keeping this book as a resource to better understand people in my life.
Helpful. This is not so much a book as an assistant to the on-line tool. I'm still thinking about whether or not I got an accurate reading on my top five because this, like most personality tests, is highly subjective and there is always room for self-fulfilling prophecy or misunderstood questions. Still, it is very simple and easy to use.

I took the assessment for a volunteer role and wanted to dive deeper. It's an interesting approach and I like how it puts together a common language for everyone who has taken the assessment. This book is more of a reference tool though.

I actually really liked the book. I read the book before I took the test and was able to pretty accurately pick the strengths that I thought I possessed. While reading I made a list of strengths that I felt described me and then I made a list of strengths that I wanted to developed. Sort of how I see myself now and how I would like to see myself in the future. The book gives me a very clear view of strengths and I read some and was able to shout "that's me" even before I finished reading the description.
It gives some feedback on how to develop the strengths in terms of work. I wish it went more in depth about how to develop strengths or a longer list of actions we could take. Good place to start if trying to figure out what personality characteristics make you "YOU".

Good little workplace book. The online tests were more helpful for me, but I like the concept of focusing on individual strengths and how they all have a positive place on a team. Would like to see this go into a bit more detail.
