Strengths Finder 2.0

The concept on strengthening your strengths rather than fixing your weaknesses needs to be incorporated into our lives more. Unfortunately, I learned my strengths are extremely girly. And that was pretty disappointing.

Generally helpful and intriguing but the book on its own didn't entirely sell me. The more personalized test came a little closer.
Slightly skeptical that my number one strength came up as strategy.
Also, strengths aren't supposed to shift but I took the test twice and within a year four of my top five strengths changed. Granted, I went through a lot this past year. But still, doesn't that seem rather dramatic considering this test purports to measure your generally unchanging personality?
BUT critiques aside, a useful test that I appreciated and will use going forward.

If you've read "Now, Discover Your Strengths," then you probably won't get much out of this book. The description of the strengths is pretty much a copy-paste from that book (the "what this strength sounds like" is identical). The action items and "how to work with..." sections for each strength are new, but that information is already available on the website if you've taken the test. So, I'd say that this book is most useful if you have never done a StrengthsFinder test before and want to know how the strengths work. If you want more in-depth information then you should read the prior book and use the website instead. It's definitely not necessary to read both.

A lot of people have really solid experiences with this test and book. When I took it, the test was fairly inaccurate - missed a few strengths I know are my primaries, told me I had a few I know I'm not actually great at.

The book itself is super short, basically just descriptors of each strength - the included test is the important part. This is totally based on my experience with it, I've seen it be super helpful for others; I'd just be remiss in reviewing it any differently.

My place of work used the Strengthsfinder 2.0 test for a retreat a month ago, so I had skimmed the intro and read my sections with some detail. Since then I have continued to circle back to the ideas and frameworks the book outlines, so I decided it was time to read it for real. I just finished reading the intro closely and then reading all the different strengths.

I continue to find this to be a really useful test. There are strengths that felt familiar to me that didn't show up in my top five. But there were a number that were clearly not me. I suspect those that were were probably not far behind my top five.

I'd recommend the Strengthsfinder 2.0 instrument to anyone interested in personality and becoming better or more effective in your work or personal life. Good read!

Develop your strengths. I agree, I'm old enough now that my weaknesses are hard to overcome by shear willpower. I like how this book has a ton of action items. Doing them is really rewarding

The StrengthsFinder assessment was first introduced by The Gallup Poll in the path breaking book "Now Discover Your Strengths". Beginning from where the book left off, Tom Rath in this revealing eye opener has produced a magnificent follow-up which enhances and accentuates the original impact.

The StrengthsFinder assessment has been refined to include the new "Strengths Insights" which is based on more than 5,000 unique combinations of responses within the new assessment. The results of the assessment are staggeringly refreshing!

"STRENGTHSFINDER 2.0" - Strongly recommended!

Some interesting points here - primarily around focusing on the value of building your strengths vs. trying to improve weaknesses. The test was interesting, but I think the strength descriptors are a bit vague.
