The best part of this book is the online test assessment you can take that tells you strengths.

Short self-help book that discusses focusing on building up your strengths instead of putting all your effort toward your shortcomings. First 30 pages have actual discussion while the remainder is just descriptions of the 34 different strengths you could have received as your results from taking the test on their website using the access code in the back of the book. There's only one use per code by the way so don't expect much from this book if you pick it up used. I had to read this and take the test for work. I found it very accurate and interesting, but not fully worthwhile. I predicted my results almost perfectly and, even while reading the descriptions of my strength, I didn't learn anything about myself that I will actually pull into action in my life. Still a good reminder to focus on your strengths when it comes to personal development as well though. My results were Empathy, Relator, Intellection, Responsibility, and Developer.

The book itself is fairly useless without the code to take the online quiz, and yes, I know that's annoying. But I did enjoy the quiz and liked reflecting on my top 5 strengths. I wish there were more of a community online surrounding StrengthsFinder--forums on their website or something at least--but overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

Pretty useless unless you’ve taken the assessment but the action points are great if you know what your strengths are and the descriptions are generally good enough to determine if they apply to you even if you haven’t taken the assessment.

This book was really amazing. I really liked how the test gave specific action steps for my top five strengths and ways that I could make myself stronger in these areas, without focusing on my weaknesses. Good read for anyone involved in any kind of team. I had the privilege of going through it with some of my YV guys. Good stuff!

I admit I was not looking forward to reading this and taking the assessment as I really didn't have any interest in this subject. This was given to me by my supervisor to help me recognize my strengths and how to use them to work within my organization. My top five: relator, achiever, responsibility, input, and learner.

It's actually an interesting idea for a manager to look for your strengths and utilize them in order to work better with others, as well as, to improve an organization. Sometimes these strengths in personality have a tendency to conflict with others.

The more you know...
