I thought this was a great Christmas story. Yes it had the Hallmark theme but the plot and the character development allowed me to cherish each character and felt part of the Christmas experience. Well written.

My friend gave me this book because of my love of cheesy Christmas movies. If you also love them, then you'll enjoy this book. It's (Christmas) campy and delightful. The writing isn't strong and everyone laughs... a lot but that's not why you would this book anyway. This is a great book for a light, silly read for the holidays.

From the book jacket: Haley Hanson’s idea of the perfect Christmas is escaping to the Caribbean to work so she can avoid all the traditional Christmas distractions. Over the years, she’s sacrificed her personal life to climb the corporate ladder at a prestigious Boston advertising agency. Now she just needs to land a coveted Christmas toy company account to make partner. But first her boss thinks she needs a holiday attitude adjustment and ships her off to Christmas Camp at Holly Peak Inn to help her find her Christmas spirit.

My reactions:
As I read this, I kept thinking it was remarkably like a Hallmark TV movie I had seen last week. Then I noticed the author’s note at the end, where she states she wrote the script for the movie first. No matter, really. It seems that all those movies have the same plot. They’re still fun to watch, and the schmaltzy Christmas romance books are fun to read. Total escapism.

Now I need some cookies ….

This one was a bit too Hallmark for me. Probably would make a great tv movie, but as a book it fell flat for me.

If I had to sum up this holiday read in 3 images:

Now I really want a hot chocolate!

Haley, aka the Grinch, doesn’t do Christmas. It’s not that she hates it, she just doesn’t have time for it. Work, work, work…that is all that girl thinks about. She is gunning for a promotion and her boss makes her go to Christmas Camp as a prerequisite to pitching a large account.

What is a holiday story without a love interest, am I right?! Here’s where Jeff comes in. He is the son of Ben – the owner of Christmas Camp – and he has Haley in his sights. Not for what you think, he wants to make sure her lack of Christmas spirit doesn’t ruin this camp for his father. Jeff wants this to be the last camp and for his dad to sell the joint. Ben obviously doesn’t want that, and Haley – the workaholic she is – thinks of a way to help Ben…but will Jeff be pleased?

Little sparks build over the book between Haley and Jeff and then BOOM: its either love or destruction. What do you think it will be?

This was my first holiday read of the season and it gave me all the warm and fuzzies. It’s sugary sweet, but dentist approved. 😉

I can’t wait for the TV movie out at the end of this month! I heard it will play on the Hallmark Channel!

Haley has never been into Christmas, but she really wants to land the advertise campaign for Tyler Toys, the company who releases the very popular Christmas doll every year. How can Haley even attempt to pitch a great campaign when she isn't even into Christmas but her coworker is?? She needs to nail this campaign in order for her to climb up in her industry.

Her boss tells her to go to Christmas Camp and get a certificate of competition. This program will help her change her attitude.

When Haley gets there, she struggles life without her phone, laptop, and internet. She is forced to do all of these Christmas themed activities and she cannot handle all the Christmas spirit. Haley meets the owner's son, Jeff, and instantly feels the chemistry between them. Jeff is a bit put off by Haley as she is only doing this Christmas Camp for work and isn't interested in the spirit of Christmas.

Will Haley last the whole time she is supposed to be at this Christmas Camp? Will she change her mind about Christmas?

This was a very cute story about Christmas and just the perfect read to get you into the holiday spirit! I can't wait to watch the movie for this book!
