I did enjoy this one and it was definitely worth my time to read. Once again du Maurier’s description of the scenery are so incredibly vivid and unique, however I don’t think the same can be said for the characters. They were all kind of tropey which made the plot quite guessable. 

Overall, I didn’t hate it however I was definitely expecting more from it and won’t be picking it up again, anytime soon.

The plot is interesting and du Maurier's writing is delightful. But the romance part is juvenile. For me, I could just switch roles with Joss and Patience instead of Jem and Mary to understand what Patience saw in Joss and also see the future of Mary.

Mary is, in my opinion, too reckless but i admired her loyalty and courage even if she annoyed me. 

Is a violent book and you won't find any comfort.

Me ha gustado el tono lúgubre que tenía todo y la atmósfera un tanto angustiosa. La historia en sí está bastante bien contada y no se hace lenta, las cosas se van sucediendo en poco tiempo y no se enrolla en relleno.

El romance no es un main focus y como tal el desarrollo que tiene es un poco "meh", te viene a añadir a la historia para explicar ciertas decisiones de los personajes pero a mí me parece que no tienen mucha química ni un final muy lógico.

My least favorite du Maurier so far. She is usually an artist with her words, but the beginning of this felt contrived somehow. I also kind of guessed the ending. I wanted her to surprise me, but I was a little disappointed. I will probably read Rebecca again to make myself feel better lol
