This is just the book the series needed after A Court of Wings and Ruin. Through this holiday experience we are able to relax and find comfort in the characters healing process. That is not to say raw emotions aren't shown. Nesta especially is struggling with her mental health. I loved the juxtaposition this book showed. No fighting, not much political scheming, just people who love each other trying to piece together their fallen world.
Also bonus points for the multiple perspectives, including everyone!

did not expect the nesta alcoholism arc like. at all. but otherwise i loved seeing the group in a cute christmas-y setting, exchanging gifts and drinking wine deep into the night. although i do understand that nesta is healing from the Literal War she never wished to be a part of i didn’t feel like it made a lot of sense to be so distant from her sisters, especially after their father’s death. other things i liked: feyre’s eye tattoos being changed to match the velaris crest was SO heartwarming!!!! elain and azriel interactions are so gentle i love them!!! and the cake she made feyre for her birthday 🥹!!! also the sex scene towards the end 🫣🥵 but what i loved most is feyre becoming an art teacher for young fae struggling after the war it’s so good to see her healing in that way and showing others to do the same. so excited to meet their kid in the next book <3

This book was not my favorite. I think I could have done without reading this book. Only a small portion of this book was needed for the transition into the next book in the series. The rest of it felt like filler material.

I have mixed feelings. While I don't think it was the best book I've read from the series, I do think it had some redeeming qualities.
It tended to drag on, particularly with the numerous shopping scenes. I couldn't help but think that the book could have been shorter if those scenes were cut out.
The book did manage to make me continue disliking Nesta. To be fair, she's not coping well with the aftermath of the war which explains her behavior towards Cassian and others. On the other hand, Cassian deserves much better than what he gets in the book. I have hope that she might be able to turn things around in the next book and prove herself worthy of his love and attention.
I think it's still worth reading, but you wouldn't miss anything if you didn't.

I feel like this book is unnecessary but it’s a nice pallet cleanser from the events of the previous book. The story is a lot more lighthearted and you get to know more about the characters in a peaceful setting.

this was the slow cozy recovery i needed after ACOWAR. i got to live, breathe and process with these characters for a second around the solstice. I enjoy just hanging with these characters and hearing their thoughts without the heavy stress of what's to come. I think Feyre's last few paragraphs sum up why this novella is good. although i know feyre is feeling like life is fleeting & it could've been them either dead from war, i do not want her to have a baby it seems to have set up the inner turmoil for nesta well for the next book. I was dreading leaving Feyre but now curious to be in Nesta's POV and going to pick up the next book right away.
