3.7 AVERAGE

The set up not my fav but enjoyed the middle and last third of the book! Their chemistry was well written and the miscommunications made sense. Character development a bit shallow but worked within the length of the novel.

Marriage of convenience, theater/music nerds, crushing on his Irish accent, immigration laws felt different in 2017, OMG why are you ok with your uncles knowing you were hiding under the table?!, yes nepotism is icky but it’s hard to be in your early 20s.

I really enjoyed the first 70% of the book but then it just got a little silly and repetitive.

First book by Christina Lauren and I was not disappointed. I am excited to read more by this duo.

SpoilerHolland has a shoe in the music business because her uncle wrote a broadway show. She is also obsessed with a guitar player that she sees in the subway so much so that she nicknamed him Jack. One day, the violin player walks out of rehearsal and Holland comes up with an idea on how to replace him. She takes her uncle to the subway to hear "Jack". Her uncle really wants him to be in the orchestra but finds out that his card has expired. Jack, whose real name is Calvin, ends up marrying the main character Holland to stay in the country. Does Calvin and Holland stay married? Is it a real relationship?

This was slow to start but I really enjoyed it in the end! It was a funny, sexy, fluffy story and I did genuinely want these crazy kids to work it out. Also fun to me that this incorporated working on Broadway into the storyline.
