Really, was there even another kind of rating ever in consideration? Pamela's books are so awesome you automatically give 5 stars. The only thing wrong with this book was, it should've been longer, it leaves you kind of wanting more, but hey that's something that happens with all of Pamela's books. Nate was amazing, they way I love my heroes. Megan was indescribably great, I have no words to describe how much I liked Megan and their story together. A truly fantastic story, and I really hope that the Beer Run is a preview of the next I-Team to come and Nate makes an appearance, as well as the others.

Skin Deep by Pamela Clare is a spin-off novel from her bestselling I-Team series which is an absolute favorite of mine. Being her first self-published book as well, Skin Deep tells the story of the sexy Marc Hunter’s younger sister Megan Hunter who finds love and redemption when she least expects to.
Megan’s childhood had been a painful one, one filled with abuse of every kind imaginable. Reading Marc’s story would paint a vivid picture of just how much Megan had suffered at the hands of people whom she should have been able to trust, people who misused and abused the position of authority they had over people in situations like the one Megan found herself in.
Nathaniel West is ex-military, scarred on the inside and out, taking one day at a time in his attempt to move forward in his life. When he sees Megan from community shelter his family donates ground beef to, his interest is piqued enough for him to sit up and take notice. And when Megan and her adorable little daughter Emily’s life gets thrown into danger, it is then that the relationship between Megan and Nathan fosters and grows giving you a beautiful story of love amidst bits of action and humor that only Pamela Clare can deliver. Recommended for fans of I-Team novels.

Sweet and sexy, Megan Hunter, former Rawlings, was Marc Hunter's sister. With a past that haunted her, she never felt safe with men with the exception of Marc and Julian Darcangelo, his best friend. She had a little girl, Emily, and whose father was stalking her and blackmailing her for money.
Nate West, former Marines, with battle scars that haunt him everywhere, saved Megan from her stalker and invited her to his ranch, where she learned how to trust again and found love with him.
This novella is pretty sweet and fluffy compared to Clare's novels, but I must say that this kept up with the theme in a good way. ;)

I really enjoy this author's writing style usually, but didn't enjoy this as much as I was hoping for. This is a wonderful premise for a book, but the relationship between Megan and Nate felt so forced, so rushed and so predictable, that it lost it's charm. I was captivated by Nate's backstory, the effect his scars had on his life and his confidence. I was equally intrigued Megan's past and her constant struggle to be who she is today, and her love for her little girl. I didn't really feel like a lot of their issues were resolved satisfactorily, but I enjoyed the way the tale was told.

Reread; listened to this on audio, still amazing, still love Nate and Megan.
Both are scarred, one physically, one emotionally, and they come together and are super sweet and super sexy together. I just love them together and separately. And the Kaleo Griffith is a wonderful narrator for this series.
