It was just how I liked the first book. A fun read. Hope to read more of these.
I had to buy the second volume because I loved the first one. And although this follow up is not as funny it‘s still very entertaining.
Customer: Do you have Harry Potter book seven, part two?
Bookseller: Book seven, The Deathly Hallows, is just one volume.
Customer: But the movie has two parts, so there must be a second book! They don’t just make movies from nothing!

Sadly this wasn't for me. I decided to read this follow-up to Jen's first title of a similar name because the first book made me chuckle a couple of times. My main issue, as with the first book, is that I just find it too difficult to believe that most of these things were actually ever said by humans. I mean... some are plausable but most aren't and it really took the enjoyment out of it for me. Maybe it's cynical of me, and that's my issue, but my enjoyment was hindered by the overly peculiar and silly things that were apparently spoken by customers in book shops. Oh well. Some people will dig this, and that's awesome, it just didn't do anything for me sadly.
Diría hasta 4.5 ⭐ porque este segundo volumen me gusto incluso más que el primero. Las frases que aparecen son muy graciosas y divertidas, y morí de ternura con los comentarios que hacían algunos nenes.
¿Por qué yo me los cruzo cuando voy a comprar libros?
Para los que no saben, esta serie de libros es un compilado que Jen Campbell hizo sobre distintas frases que escucho mientras trabajaba en una librería, cosas que los clientes le preguntaron o ella o le dijeron a algún amigo con el que estaban. Este volumen es el segundo que Jen lanza y tiene no solo frases que escuchó el la librería de antigüedades donde ella trabaja, sino también de bibliotecas, otras librerías del Reino Unido, e incluso cosas que gente le dijo durante las firmas de su libro anterior ( que también es sobre frases peculiares de este estilo).
La gran variedad y combinación de frases hizo que este libro me encantara y me pareciera incluso mejor que el primero. Mientras iba leyendo no podía parar de reir y a veces quedarme bastante perpleja con algunos de los comentarios que la gente puede llegar a hacer en una librería.
Este concepto de libros me parece una idea excelente, y tal como dije en la reseña del primer volúmen siento que son ideales para cualquier persona a la que le gusten los libros. Ya sea por que sos lector, autor, editor, trabajas en librerías/bibliotecas, etc. este libro te va a encantar y te va a hacer reir muchísimo, así que no dejes de leerlo. Además, se lee súper rápido porque no es muy extenso, y porque una vez lo arrancás las frases te sorprenden tanto que te da ganas de seguir leyendo para saber qué otras cosas dice la gente cuando va a comprar libros.

I enjoyed the snippets of conversation between booksellers/librarians and various customers. [spoiler] My favorite has to be the one about the lady cooking a recipe at home calling the bookseller to confirm if the text she copied from a cookbook is ok as she could not understand her own handwriting. It still makes me smile while I am writing now this review.
I had expectations of getting a few chuckles out of this book, at the very least a cheap thrill…Nada! The observations are not so much of <i>weird</i> things people say, but of <i>dumb</i> things people say. And who has time for that? Some examples:

Once again, this was a laugh out loud read. With the comments being so absurd they have to be real. Enjoyed this a lot, some of the comments from kids are delightful - I'd love a guard dragon for work!! I'm having a Jen Campbell binge these holidays and I'm about to start The Bookshop Book.
