It's odd. It's not my favorite book, but every couple of years I reread it. It's the only book I care about forgetting. When I can't quite recall the story then I get the urge to reread it.

This book is so fun. Some of the bits involving race are a little dated (they definitely went over the heads of my 7th grade students.) The mystery and how it unravels is quite cunning. Best of all, while the author wrote this for young people, she didn't talk down to them, so it's enjoyable for both children and adults. The only down side is that there are so many characters (slightly more than 20) that younger readers may get confused about who is who. Overall, I highly recommend this to any lover of mysteries.

Inheritance Games did it better.

An adequate mystery novel for juvenile readers! At first, I did not like reading mystery novels at first, but after getting in touch with this book, I changed my opinion with a mystery novel. The Westing Game shows a lot of similarities with my life, my dad and uncle would play a game that is somehow related to the Westing Game, they would write down a piece of the statement (that’s the clue) if they figure out what the statement means they earn a token. Westing Game includes vivid details of the characters, however, I still don’t get why does the author want to discuss the bombings, and plus the ending makes no sense because of the main point of a mystery novel is to figure out the murderer, how would it be a mystery novel without a murderer and victim. There are still many parts that need to be clarified. Please take in some more details so that your readers can understand this book. The author should have taken in some time to review his writings.

5/5, good twisty mystery
