If you like Agatha Christie or Knives Out, you’ll likely love this. I wasn’t in the mood for this kind of story.
The setup also slightly reminds me of the squid game, although dramatically less violent and bloody.

Quick read, well hidden clues to the game. I would like to see the physical version. Reading on Kindle I missed out on the design elements that the author incorporated to enhance the read.
As an adult I only gave it three stars but I can see how upper elementary kids might like it. It was hard for me to get through but if I was reading it at their age I probably would've rated it higher.

Just a great attention-getting mystery that had me hooked from the get-go!
Re-read while weeding my childhood books.
Yes, it's a book that is dated in references and terminology, but for kids who want a mystery/a fast Newbery, this is pretty solid.

This book uses language now considered offensive but not in 1978. It felt very choppy to me, and it skipped around a bit too much for my taste.
