Superhero mashups

Are my favourite. Love the newly young Xmen. Features gorgeous colours and art. Some really nice GotG humour that lifts the story too.

No thoughts just Jean Grey. Also this Peter Quill makes me forgot about Crisp Rat :)

This is the weakest of Bendis' latest work with the X-men and the romance between Starlord and Kitty Pryde doesn't feel organic at all. The only real upside is that this is the jump off for the Cyclops solo series with the Star Jammers.

Even though Jean Grey is probably my least favourite of the X-Men (ever) (okay that's an exaggeration but I really don't like her), I really enjoyed this crossover volume. I've been reading both runs so I'm pretty much up-to-date with what's going on.

When Gladiator comes over all Terminator and kidnaps JG to put her on trial for crimes committed by her older, deader self it's up to the Guardians and TANXM to rescue her.
Some funny moments with Rocket and Groot, and Bobby. And some great interaction between the two teams.

I'm starting to get the sense that everyone in the Marvel galactic setting are jerks. I mean, there have been some obvious examples in the past like the Skrulls. But others tended to fall into the category of being bad guys because just opposed to the goals of the heroes they came across.

Times have changed it would seem. Now people are putting time displaced copies of characters on trial for crimes committed by their past (future?) selves.

At this point, I'm more familiar with what's been going on with the Guardians than I am with the New X-Men. Except that most of these new X-Men are old X-Men, and the story has its roots one of the best known story arcs from X-Men history. So I didn't feel lost in picking up this crossover event. And overall I enjoyed how it played out.

Although, I'm still a little annoyed that so far it seems like the writers aren't developing an ongoing story for the Guardians, and are instead tossing them at whatever random problem they can come up with.

Not as good as the other All New X-men books, and this was my first experience with the Guardians. Average story, and I have to admit it seemed a bit rushed because one second they were landing on the planet and next the fight was over....like what happened? Best part was Jean's new power set. Plus the comical interactions between Groot, and Rocket Raccoon.

I'm not sure how I feel about all of it but this Comic made Iceman my favorite X-Men. He is so awesome and hilarious. Actually this entire story is full of hilarity. Maybe the X-Men and the Guardians should cross over more often. Although even with all its awesome, it still can't make me like Jean Grey.

"Every comic book is someone's first." - Stan Lee

As I'm certain it was intended, this collection, taken altogether as one story, functions beautifully well as an introduction to the Guardians of the Galaxy (just in time for the movie) AND the time-displaced squad of original X-Men (plus a couple of folks). The introductory material at the beginning is helpful without being exhaustively expository, and we jump right into a story that feels in progress because it is. The characterizations made me laugh out loud and the action scenes are exciting but brief, with none of the typical "jump cut to EVERY character" panels that can wear out a reader. Good enough that I enjoyed it and then left it in my son's room to be read and shared. Bonus bit: if you are unfamiliar with Marvel 616 history, there are a couple of quick lessons in here, too.
Good stuff.
