Definitely do not read if you haven’t read the first one. Literally nothing would make any sense. As its been a minute since I’ve read Gideon I wish I had it handy to refer back to because there some references I forgot or things I felt I missed. I never mark up fiction books but I feel like I needed to annotate the heck out of this one. As the first one action doesn’t really pickup to half way through.

The book was great but the last hundred pages or so kinda left me underwhelmed

I found Gideon quite a difficult read for a number of reasons so I was really taking a gamble in reading Harrow but I had a fucking blast. Gory and dramatic and just fun from start to finish. Harrowhark is such a gut wrenching and unreliable and myopic and ruthless narrator it’s delightful. I love her there is nothing right with her whatsoever.

A great follow up to the first book, but its constant gaslighting as narrative device was annoying at times. I mean that is part of story, and its on purpose (and kinda cool to do), but ive never read a book where it gaslights you about the events of the previous book.

fucking incredible
