I remembered this book being better when it first came out.
I love the idea of this, but the execution was just ok. I think it would have been better if the author had many other authors write short stories to contribute which would vary the style more.

Honestly, I couldn't finish this novel. Liked the movie, the novel was not what I expected. I read about two chapters and gave up. Written like a documentary, with no emotion, it tells stories of people who saw the zombie apocalypse happen. Even though it's fiction, it's written like historical non-fiction novel, which I think it why I couldn't get into it (I never read non-fiction, I find it boring. I want the emotion!)
I enjoyed the premise of this book and the look at how humans recaptured Earth after the zombies invade, but not having central characters throughout the story really bugged me. It was just hard to identify with the people in it and because of that it was hard to get immersed in it.
That said I did like the different points of view from around the world the structure provided (though the voices of them all sounded same to me!). Also liked that it was easy to start and stop with my crazy schedule and limited reading time.
Overall take, it was just alright. Nothing spectacular.

I made a grave mistake in watching the movie first and then reading the book. This caused me to be properly un prepared for the type of book this is. A documentary style take on the Zombie War of the world. Extremely interesting if not a tad frustrating that you don't build any real relations with the characters. Highly enjoyable though!
