rafe brandon well and truly earned the title of lord pain-upon-arse

the saving grace of this book was tessa dare’s unparalleled sense of humour and overall exuberant and cute energy in her stories. for this reason i don’t think i’ve ever given a TD anything under three stars (and hopefully never have to) unless there’s something seriously wrong

entertaining enough but flat compared to the innovation of the first in this series.

I really enjoyed the romance between Clio and Rafe. There's loads of chemistry and banter. I really just loved their bickering back and forth and that leading to their crumbling resolves when it came to being in love with each other. I really loved the castle setting and the unwavering acceptance between them. I do wish that we could have gotten more of Clio's sister Phoebe and maybe see her get her own romance.

Overall, this is definitely a fun historical romance and I'll be continuing on with the series.

“You’ll need a new name in the ring.” She gave him a fierce, determined look. “You’re Clio’s Own now. The Devil himself could come for you, and he’d have to get through me.”

Clio Whitmore & Rafe Brandon, y’all are the absolute cutest and no one deserves each other better than the two of you do! Clio may have started off as a people pleaser, but she has remained compassionate & kind to people despite their flaws and is now slowly learning to be fierce & to stand up for herself.  I love how Rafe always, always stood up for Clio when she couldn’t, how he prioritizes her needs and even knows them better than she does, and always uplifted her & believed in her despite how people criticized her.

A fun, delightful time! 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such a fun read ! Tessa Dare always delivers with a heroine you want to root for, a hero you want to smack some sense into and secondary characters you want to invite to your next house party.

Pra quem vem do hype do primeiro livro (romance com o duque), diga sim ao marquês se torna bem mediano; eu não sou muito fã de slow burn então isso pra mim se torna só enrolação, o que deixou a leitura ainda mais demorada.

Fun, light.
After a lot of serious books, this was just light and enjoyable.
