3.5 stars. I think it's time for me to move on from comic books, but I say this with a heavy heart.
First of all, the art in this is insanely beautiful! The colors are vibrant and especially the individual chapter covers are stunning! This is probably my favourite comic style.
I also generally enjoyed the story, it's fairly close to the movie one), because it deals with such interesting and conflicting topics.
But I just don't love having to navigate between the speech bubbles for such a long time. It works for short comic strips but I found it hard to focus on the story. That was unfortunately also aided by the narrative jumps, which are harder to navigate in comics than in novels.
Having said that, I would love a novelisation of this storyline, because I don't feel like I will continue on with the comics.
The pacing of the plot felt a little odd to me, but then I'm just not used to comics and their tone atm and this was, I believe, just the beginning of a longer arc, so it wouldn't be fair to really fault it for that.

I was hoping for a cool glimpse into a young T'Challa's life but we get is more by the numbers look at some stuff we already knew or assumed. The plot was pedestrian but the dialogue was decent. The art was really good though. Overall, a decent read that left so much on the table.

I should have read this before A Nation Under Our Feet but oh well. This TʻChalla is much closer to the MCU character, which I enjoyed because we only ever got to see him in Wakanda in one movie. It was rewarding to compare and contrast this story with the movie since both focus on very similar themes.

Its fine. A pretty by-the-book, generic "Early Years" series. BP meets this character! BP meets that character! And with a dash of meaningless social intrique. The writing feels padded (4 issues would have been better than 6), and the art is just...bland.
Liked watching T'Challa grapple with running a country (diplomacy with Doom, his brother/ opposition)
Something between a 3 and a 3.5 for me. This was a really good overview of T'Challa's backstory and a some of the important supporting characters. It didn't blow me away, but was a good starting point to get into Black Panther comics.
